No Muir here, which is part of the point of the LTiA deluxe set. Personally, this album's so important to me that buying the box is a no-brainer. I don't quite understand the complaints of having to buy stuff over again. This is a jazz board, after all, filled with obsessives who are willing to buy multiple copies of KoB, or whatever other bones the industry is willing to throw at us! All the while completely ignoring more obscure (yet worthy) recordings that many of us have REALLY expressed a desire to hear.

New jazz box sets on the horizon?
JETman replied to ghost of miles's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
This has got to be the solo stuff. The Brown/Roach stuff was on the 4 cd first volume. In true intelligent record company fashion, this is nowhere to be found on the Hip-o website! -
I get that, but it's less than dropping $50 on a Freddie Roach. Perspective is everything!

As far as Costa goes, you're not looking hard enough: http://www.dustygroove.com/browse.php?kwfilter=eddie+costa&incl_oos=1&incl_cs=1&format=cd&new_status=new IMHO, these Costas are worth infinitely more than any Freddie Roach record.

I knew about Wayne's wife. What's the Ford connection? i was about to ask that myself. i don't get the "connection". the TWA tragedy has its anniversary in July. See my post #18. Ricky Ford's mom was on that flight on her way to visit her son in Paris. Wayne's wife was also on the flight. The July anniversary is irrelevant. I was also making a connection to the 9/11 anniversary in that there are still many in our country who do not believe that the TWA case was really "solved" (ie., there are those who believe that the crash was the result of an attack of some sort which was covered up by the government).

Given that today is the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and that many believe that the mystery of TWA Flight 800 hasn't really been solved, Ricky Ford's sad connection to Wayne Shorter should be mentioned, and the victims of that 1996 crash also remembered in our prayers.

According to forum rules, not ok to link this.

This is one of my favorite Mosaics, and well worth the search, IMHO. Unfortunately, it's out of print, though: #187 The Complete H.R.S. Sessions (6 CDs)

or DUMPADS.......

The original poster asked specifically about a CD release and you posted an MP3 link. You could at least have made that clear. I believe I said "I have this one which was released in 1995". AFAIK, there were no MP3's in 1995, were there?
-
So? I was just trying to point out that there was a cd release of the title other than the Japanese issue you cited.
-
I have this one which was released from Europe (I believe) in 1995: http://www.amazon.com/Music-From-The-Connection/dp/B000QZXFE2/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1346791395&sr=1-1&keywords=howard+mcghee+the+connection

I'd say Cano needs to show more accuracy next time!

Including 1960 would make it like a 16 cd set. They're probably planning a set which only covers that year somewhere down the road. And yes, Box 1 = 10 discs, Box 2 = 4 discs. They combined the two to come up with the 13 disc set, probably by being able to use the empty space on the discs more efficiently.

1960 in thread title is an error. Cover says 1958-59.

http://www.popmarket.com/louis-armstrong-the-okeh-columbia-rca-victor-recordings-1925-1933/details/27732990 Also, consider the possibility that the remastering comment on the site for the Armstrong set refers to that done for the 4 cd Hot Fives and Sevens boxed set released by Sony 10+ years ago. It wouldn't be the first time that a record company was manipulative in its use of language in order to increase sales of its product. Maybe board member Ricky Riccardi would have some information to share on this topic since he penned the new liner notes?

Great actor. I believe he was in some episodes of Two and a Half Men a few years back. Sorry to hear of his passing. 54 is sooooo young!

Released in 2008 here: http://www.mosaicrecords.com/discography.asp?number=MS-032&price=$44.00&copies=3%20CDs

Yup. Can't remember the radio station call letters. Was it LIB or LIR? I think one of those broke U2 to New Yawkas.
