I don't think there's much here of value - a bunch of Deccas, Columbias, and some others. I'm keeping the Ellington for myself but there's a lot of Stan Kenton and Woody Herman that isn't of particular interest to my own collecting tastes.

I'll take that as a yes. I've got some football watching to do in the near future, but this evening I'll start cataloging them and post the results here. Lots of them are in the hardcover binder style cases with parchment slips and seem to be in really good condition. I should note that I'm not trying to make a killing here, I'd just like for them to go to a happy home.

Greetings folks, I have a bunch of 78s I recently acquired that I'd like to move due to space issues. I haven't been posting here too long so I wasn't sure how much interest there was here. If there is interest, I'll take the time to type up a list of what I have. A lot of it came from an academic library and most of it is in excellent condition. As an apartment dweller I can't really justify the space they're taking up. Ideally I'd like to sell as many of them as possible to one person, and the best situation would be someone in Chicago who would be willing to pick them up, but I'd deal with shipping them if the buyer was willing to pay the cost. Let me know if you're interested and I'll type up a list - otherwise I don't think I'll bother. Thanks! The Danimal

FYI, it's looking like it will be spring before the Showcase reopens (it will be in Dearborn Station when it does). Last I heard they're still waiting on some permits from the city (surprise surprise!).

I think it's brilliant. I also had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Abrams do a solo set this past summer at Millennium Park so I had that as a context and means of comparison, and I find the Vision Towards Essence rewarding because I can listen to it multiple times. It was a bit overwhelming live to be honest, and I also wasn't in the best listening head space at the time, so I'm grateful for a chance to hear him do a very similar thing on record. Having heard him do it live and on record, it's clear to me that he's developed his own solo piano language and approach. I'll go ahead with the review cliche and say it "rewards repeated listens." As for Streaming, it also took a while to sink in, but faith in the members of the group kept me coming back. They have an incredible rapport, in their various duos and as a trio. I don't have much in the way of specific praise, but I think my initial response was that I found it overwhelming. If anything, I'm most impressed by the various areas where all members show restraint since they can each be dominating in their own ways in different contexts.
