  1. A dissenting post: I've been on the fence about this set, but eventually decided not to get it. I have the 1992 French Hot 'n Sweet CD Harlem Stride Piano, which has all the 1921-1929 solo piano tracks (no alternates) and a few band tracks, and, while I fully acknowledge Johnson's importance, the music does not really move me enough to want the Mosaic. Besides, I have all of the Bessie Smith tracks and don't care for the other vocals, the band tracks or the later material.
  2. Perhaps time to start another campaign asking Mosaic for a reprint - license permitting, of course.
  3. Yep.
  4. Jorge always has always answered my e-mails within a couple of working-days (Monday-Friday) and I've never had any problems with them. I guess things within the EU are going smoother than outside. Overseas shipping can be a pain.
  5. I contacted her once years ago. A very friendly and helpful lady. Very sorry to hear this.
  6. Sorry to hear this bad news.
  7. There was some negativity about Jazz Messengers being off-line on another forum, that's why I contacted them and got this reply within a day: We saw those speculating and harmful messages on the [xxx] Forum. They are clearly out of context. Luckily, we still are more than alive! The truth is that we are just renovating our website. Maybe it wasn’t the perfect time, but we had to do it eventually.
  8. Sorry to hear this.
  9. This may be interesting for EU customers who get their Mosaics from Jazz Messengers, Barcelona. I contacted them about the possible consequences of the current political situation in Catalonia and they assured me there will be no problems, they will move to another region of Spain if the Catalonian parliament declares independence from Spain and the region automatically ceases to be part of the EU that way.
  10. Just heard from Scott that the James P. Johnson set is now expected later this month (September 2017).
  11. Yes, and that doesn't compare with what the European newspapers I read wrote about both Texas and those Asian countries. But I guess we could go on about this all night and never agree, so let's leave it at that.
  12. I wasn't talking about the people of Texas specifically, I fully understand and appreciate that they wouldn't be interested in what's happening elsewhere right now, I was talking about a couple of your national newspapers that have a wide international readership.
  13. Last time I looked both the WP and NYT have international sections - hardly a word. A very different story in the mails from the Dutch, German and UK newspapers I subscribe to, both Texas and Nepal/India/Bangla Desh are covered extensively.
  14. At the same time, at the other end of the world (roughly), there's also a major disaster going on: extremely heavy rains and floods in Nepal, India and Bangla Desh, with the death toll now over 1,000. I get news mails from the Washington Post and NYT every day, but hardly anyone is reporting about that. Hmm...
  15. Why not get your Mosaics from Jazz Messengers in Barcelona? As long as the UK is still a member of the EU you won't have to pay customs charges that way and there are no shipping charges within the EU. Mosaic sets at Jazz Messengers
  16. Sorry to hear this. Another good one gone.
  17. I asked Jazz Messengers about it last month and they told me they would order the JPJ (and the Clifford Jordan). However, they're on a summer break until the end of August and didn't expect to get new stock until September.
  18. Scott told me a while ago that the Teddy Wilson set is scheduled for release early next year (2018).
  19. Thanks. Apparently someone thinks it's funny to make a fool out of me, but seeing who it was, I don't care.
  20. Yes, seriously; I'm not an American and I have no idea whose photo that is. Maybe I missed something, but I also have no idea which Edwards Mosaic set Ed Swinnich was referring to.
  21. They told me they will (and also the Clifford Jordan), but they will be closed for a summer break until late August (it's very hot in Spain). If they were going out of business, they wouldn't be planning a Teddy Wilson set for early next year. Which Edwards are you referring to?
  22. Listened to some more Bee Hive stuff and I don't think I'm going to get the set anytime soon.
  23. I might change my mind and get the Bee Hive after all (it does seem to have some interesting stuff, although some other stuff didn't do it for me, on the contrary), but another Mosaic, the James P. Johnson, and two classical sets, the upcoming big Rudolf Serkin box and the reissue of Stephen Kovacevich's Beethoven Piano Sonatas set, are my priorities now.
