  2. Hey that Bill Evans set is still available on CD as well.
  3. Quite a list, but look on the bright side. The Bobby Hackett set is still available!
  4. From the soundbites on the Mosaic site, this set looks very tastey!
  5. . "This title is in our warehouse and will begin shipping on March 24."--From Mosaic's website.
  6. Ubu, Thanks for the details. The remastered former material plus the bonus of unreleased tracks make this a Win-Win situation for Mulligan fans and Mosaic Junkies as well.
  7. Gerry Mulligan/Shorty Rogers-"Modern Sounds" Steve Kuhn/Gary McFarland-"October Suite" Jessica Williams-"All Alone" Dusko Goykovich Big Band-"Balkan Connection" Slide Hampton SWR Big Band-"Jazz Matinee" Slide Hampton-"Exodus" Red Norvo-"The Second Time Around"
  8. Ed, funny you should mention the Bird. He's got an interview with Blue Note next month......
  9. It will be a regular Mosaic set, I believe. I didn't get any particulars as to the content of the set, just that it will be four CDs and available in the Fall.
  10. Brad, that was a reply to an email that I sent to Mosaic and that's pretty much all the info that they gave me, the titles of forthcoming Selects, news about the Mulligan Concert Band Mosaic and that they will be releasing the new Teagarden Mosaic at the end of next week. See, you don't have to buy 25 Mosaics at a whack for them to answer your e-mails!
  11. This is what I get for posting without my glasses and my first cup of coffee!!!
  12. Just in from Mosaic. "In May, we will be releasing 2 more Selects(3 CDs), Randy Weston and Bennie Green".
  13. Just received an email from Fred at Mosaic: "We have finally secured the rights for the Mulligan Concert Band which we are very excited about. It will be a 4 CD set and will be released around September"
  14. Toshiko Akiyoshi:"Tribute to Duke Ellington" Lorez Alexandria: "My One & Only Love" Slide Hampton & World of Trombones:"Spirit of the Horn" Johnny Hodges: Complete Verve Small Group Sessions(Mosaic Box) Lorez Alexandria:"Alexandria The Great" Pee Wee Russell: "Ask Me Now!" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  15. I was pleased with this set, but I found a better introduction to this genre through a series of recordings on Riverside called New Orleans/The Living Legends.
  16. ]D Does anyone know what the next release will be in the Mosaic Select Series?
  17. I think it would be wise to wait as well. I don't think that lightning strikes the same place again too soon!
  18. I guess you're right Brad. Anyway, on the bright side--looks like many of us Mosaic Junkies have found a safe harbor over here and can carry on our diatribes without fear of "Big Brother" pulling the plug! If they re-open that board, I think it will have a tea party atmosphere and not the type that Doctor A.F. used to load his pipe with....
  19. Son of A Weizen! Oh no!! Now there are two! Well I guess if they can clone sheep.....................................
  20. Thanks Ed but I mailed the last of that date-nut bread off to Tom and the Boardmaster at Blue Note just before they shut down the board. Kind of a coincidence, don't you think?
  21. Ed, You know that I share your admiration for Mosaic, being proud to have an up to date complete collection of those black boxes. However, my point is that back in the day when I would devour every word in their catalogs, they always made a special point of stating the company philosophy which firmly announced the policy of limited series, never to be re-pressed and also the exclusivity of purchasing new sets ONLY from Mosaic. I just find it a little dissapointing that have changed a policy that they have so staunchly subscribed to until recently. I guess that in the light of the board being pulled out from under us, this is just another sore point with me at the moment. My melancholy will subside when the UPS guy delivers the next set, I'm sure. Thanks for listening, this is much cheaper than a shrink
  22. Originally you could only buy new Mosaic sets directly from them. They then made certain concessions with sets that were licenced from Capitol or EMI such as the Nat Cole and the Peggy Lee/June Christy and the Kenton sets. Now it seems that everything is fair game. I guess that it cuts into the cottage industry attention and service that we've all come to know and admire from a little company that I guess needs to branch out.
  23. I was Todatbluenote on the other board, but they didn't appreciate my sense of humor over there either and kicked me down a notch! P.S. Even the "Roll-eyes" are better over here!!!!
  24. I'm a little let down to see that new Mosaic sets are popping up all over the place on other retail outlets. I thought that Mosaic products were only available from Mosaic alone. I got a Collectors Choice catalog in the mail today and there must be at least 8 Mosaic sets in that catalog. Dusty Groove is selling Mosaic Selects on their website and the even a specialty dealer like Footlight Records is selling the new Sarah Vaughan set on their website. I am beginning to think that everyone involved with both Blue Note and Mosaic is full of shit!!
  25. I love this set as well but I've got one for you. I was corresponding with someone on-line about Mosaics when the subject of this set came up. This guy told me that he loved this music so much that he was thinking about making a provision in his will that when he died, he wanted the Mosaic set burried with him. A little extreme? The definition of a true jazz fan, IMO!
