  1. I think 223 was set aside for the Bobo Stensen box.
  2. Phillip was a friend and I kept this along with his Moers and Hat Hut lps.
  3. Sorry we can't be there tonight to celebrate with you, but Ann and I send our best wishes and great thanks your way.
  4. Damn near everyone in North America is of mixed racial descent.
  5. I posted this yesterday in the WAYLTRN thread.
  6. This is on Stunt, so Pete should be able to supply it.
  7. Phillip Wilson Trio, "Fruits" with Leo Smith and Johnny Dyani.
  8. Yup, that was Fred Lonberg-Holm on the cello. Thanks for the ride Bill.
  9. Email from Bruno Johnson: New Release from okkadisk, OD12051 FME "Underground" Paal Nilssen-Love - percussion Nate McBride - bass Ken Vandermark - reeds first studio recording
  10. Thanks to all. This is a nice way to begin the day. I saw the topic last night but ignored it to enjoy the last few hours of my 50s. Yes David, Nonaah is next.
  11. You astound me Dan.
  12. Damn! I guess this is your way of squirreling out of the trip to GR on Friday. B)
  13. This turns out to be the Jazz Heritage Society. I am currently a member, considering quitting because they have the most irritating web site in the music biz. They make it very difficult to find what you want and sometimes items in their mailings are not on the site. I have sent emails to their customer service dept but have never received a response.
  14. I'm probably the only one here to have heard John Collins and Truck Parham play together.
  15. Though you probably overstate his attitude, it is mine too.
  16. I used to have them all on vinyl. They didn't really strike me as special, but I think I liked "Home" and "Chasing the Sun" best.
  17. Sounds interesting. I'll be in touch.
  18. "In East Berlin" was not part of the box. "Legba Crossing" was supposed to be exclusive to the box but some were sold separately.
  19. It was reissued on Concord, so you have 2 covers to look for.
  20. For some people this is a serious question. Personally I think it is easy to over estimate the Ra influence on the AACM guys. Mr Blount left the city about 5 years before the AACM was chartered and most members were too young to have had much meaningful contact with the Arkestra. I'm sure the forthcoming AACM history by George Lewis will cover this in some detail.
  21. I'm about to finish my 3rd Rolling Rock.
  22. In the '70s I worked for a classical label and the art director brought in a "first draft" of an album cover with the name Shostacockavich.
