sal Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Being a 26 year old American male, I pretty much grew up playing video games. I remember getting the Atari 2600 when I was in first grade, and then through the years it went to Nintendo, then the Super Nintendo, then onto the PC and Playstation, and now I'm hopelessly addicted to my PS2. My girlfriend just bought me the network adapter for the PS2 as an early Valentine's day gift, and playing games online adds a whole new dimension to the gaming experience (I'm hooked on SOCOM II: US Navy Seals, which is absolutely amazing online). I've always loved not only the sheer pleasure derived from playing video games, but how it just pulls you away from reality for a little while and throws you into the middle of an interactive universe. Its really a one of a kind experience, and unfortunately one that not too many older folks seem to be able to grasp. Any gamers in here? Quote

street singer Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Hey Sal, Well, I'm 27 so I grew up with pretty much the same stuff you did. Atari 2600, NES, Sega Master System, Super NES, Sega Genesis...from there I moved onto PC games...and when the Playstation arrived, I moved back to consoles. The original Playstation was an absolute revelation! A few years later I got back into PC games...but when my computer could no longer handle the the new games coming out, I switched back to consoles. I currently have (up and running) a PS2, Nintendo Gamecube and Sega Dreamcast. Don't spend nearly as much time (or money) on this stuff as I used to. Seems my obsession with jazz (and the audio equipment to play it on) has overcome just about all other interests. However, I still manage to find time to become immersed in a virtual world every once in a while. And I imagine I always will... Quote
sal Posted February 10, 2004 Author Report Posted February 10, 2004 However, I still manage to find time to become immersed in a virtual world every once in a while. And I imagine I always will... I'm the same way, street singer. I've gone through phases throughout the years where I didn't play video games at all. But, like you, I always come back to it somehow. I guess after starting at such a young age, its in our blood! Anyone have a favorite system of all time? Although I'm really tempted to go with the original NES due to the sentimental value and the huge advancements in gaming it featured, the original Playstation was something else as well. Quote
