Free For All Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 All these great sales..........I don't know whether to be excited or concerned. Quote
RDK Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Fortunately, I got most of what I needed at their last sale. But might i recommend the 2-disc Myra Melford live set and the Cecil Taylor. Quote
mikelz777 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Are all or most of the various Hat offerings avant-garde and free jazz type stuff or are there some more mainstream things sprinkled in there? Edited January 3, 2008 by mikelz777 Quote
RDK Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Are all or most of the various Hat offerings avant-garde and free jazz type stuff or are there some more mainstream things sprinkled in there? I think the Melford trio discs I mentioned above are fairly mainstream (moreso than most of her work I'll admit), as are the Anthony Ortega discs. If you like sax/piano duos, the Liebman/Copland 2-fer is quite accessible as well. Quote

It's a difficult choice! These sales are way too tempting... Quote

Thus far, I've only dug into the Ortega Scattered Clouds date and agree that it is fairly mainstream, and quite enjoyable! Quote
