It pops up on eBay now and then. What's your take on it, perhaps comparing to his Contemporary Lps?

I have been watching this thread hoping some more knowledgeable folks my chime in.

I picked this up a short while ago, although I have no other McGhee leader dates to compare it to.

1/2 the songs are McGhee (t) Ron Carter (b) Jimmy Jones (p) Arthur Taylor (d) and the other 1/2 are McGhee (t) Larry Ridley (b) Phil Porter (o) Dave Bailey (d).

It is a fairly laid back affair and I do enjoy McGhee's contributions, but the organ playing is a big negative for me. I wish I could be more help, but have nothing to compare it to.

I just have a cd version, and I'd echo Bill's sentiments about the date. Melllow. . . organ playing mars the enjoyment. I don't play this often.

... got that record a year ago on ebay and played it several times.

not a must have jazz record, but it is good - more easy and mellow than his contemporary recordings.

think you get it for about 20-25 US$ at the moment, near mint up to 30 $
