Michael Fitzgerald
Yeah, but they on the Critic's Choice album, they changed the cover and replaced Pepper Adams with a photo of some little kid. Will Pepper NEVER get ANY respect!?!?! Mike

Bluerein
Mike, I hope you're joking, right?? Of course they'll use the original cover. I think this is just a temporary picture because they don't have it yet. Don't know for sure but it looks like this.
JSngry
Yes, it's a joke. See this thread for context: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=19982
Bluerein
Do I have news for you!! The owner and sole person of Mighty Quinn Records is Mosaic's Jerry Roche. The name comes from his daughter. And rest assured he will use the original cover for the Adams CD. The first two reissues (Rawls and Ellis) will be from flat 16 bit transfers but from then on he will use 24 bit transfers. Hope it works out and I believe we all should support him so he can continue to do this and release the things we otherwise won't be getting from the majors (or Mosaic for that matter). I know I will.
J.A.W.
Who will do the remastering?
AmirBagachelles
Tell Roche my offer to MC from 4-5 yrs ago still stands. If need be, he/they are welcome to borrow my mint (you can eat off it) clean Japanese copy of Essence. It is from the mid 60s, sounds mighty fine. (I had heard that some of the Pacific vault had gone missing or damaged.)

jazzbo
Maybe they'll use the same engineer as Water uses, Gary Hobish of San Francisco. Gary does excellent work.
Bluerein
both...don't remember and didn't know his name. Not Gary from Water for sure. And THEY as in Jerry???? It's a single man's operation out of his house.

jazzbo
Okay, but maybe "THEY" might include others. . . I can't tell from here. Here's hoping Jerry chose a good remastering engineer.

bertrand
I'm confused: 1) Wasn't Take Aim recorded for Blue Note, albeit recorded in LA under the supervision of Leonard Feather? Here, it says World Pacific. 2) What's the 20 minute bonus track ('Straight, No Chaser)? Is it from the same studio session, or a live tune from around that time? Bertrand. Bluerein
That's from the Jazz for a Sunday afternoon live date some years later with a West Coast all star band. The first 2 and a half minutes are by Land so that's why Jerry thought it was a good idea to add it. I'm sure the remastering will be done propperly. Jerry has the Mosaic mentality so rest assure he won't settle for a bad end product.
