Chuck Nessa Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 Esperanza! I can't wait to be amazed. What does she do and how is it related to my interests? I certainly hope she is as good as a canned pork product sold in a can. Quote
Liketowatch Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 WOW..When I heard this the first time I loved it. The percussion and the bass and the rest of the band are top shelf. Her voice is new, fresh and about time. Love this to death........emusic download.............out of here Quote
Alexander Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 While the initial post may be spam, she's very good. I saw her at the Freihoffer Jazz Fest in Saratoga last summer, and I was genuinely impressed. I also have picked up her debut CD and I think it's extremely well done. She's a great bassist and a wonderful singer. Just saying... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 She might be a great artist but it will take a long time for me to get beyond her "supporters" and listen. Quote
7/4 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 I heard her on Letterman and she is impressive. I hope she grows in the years to come. . Quote
randissimo Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Actually enjoyed her performance on the Letterman show.. Quote
7/4 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Besides being an amazing vocalist and bassist, she's real purdy and has a lot of hair. Quote
Bright Moments Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) spalding lon turned me on to her last year with this one: quite nice!!! Edited June 5, 2008 by Bright Moments Quote
RDK Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Pretty good on Letterman last night. Just like another of Ravi's daughters. Sorta Norah Jones meets Corrine Bailley Rae. Quote
mgraham333 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) I like her. Check out the video interview over at Amazon she seems like a neat lady. I plan on picking up her latest release. Edited June 5, 2008 by mgraham333 Quote
JSngry Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 What I have heard of her (first album) will certainly not lower the level of mainstream musical quality, should it get there. Damned if I can find fault with that. What I do or do not find beyond that is a personal matter far outside the realm of Cultural Guardian. Quote

jazzbo Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 Who is still around and deliverin'! Who the fuck watches Letterman? Which is just to say, not me. But I know others do. Quote
JSngry Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 Georgia Anne Muldrow says what? 2 or three different things simultaneously, stacked in fourths over a killer subliminally dissonant groove. Gotsta love that, and I do. I've lived in a world where "jazz" had a "popular" center full of people that only sometimes were as "worthy" as the people on or outside the "fringes", and I've lived in one where it was all on or outside the fringes. Truthfully, I think it works out better for everybody the first way. Dallas has beaucoup "major thoroughfares" that run east-west. but only a few that run north-south. And that has (and has been designed to have) "economic repercussions". So if we might be entering a time where there is a possible sympathy for building another north-south road, I say let's not bitch too much about the fact that it might not go as far either way as we know it could, if for no other reason than that once a road is built, it either eventually gets expanded or goes to hell completely. RDK Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I generally make it a point not to blame jazz artists (or even mere singers/musicians ) on the quality of their publicists. Quote
jazz1 Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I heard her on Letterman and she is impressive. I hope she grows in the years to come. What's wrong with me?? I think that she is a screamer, and her pitch is off!! Quote
