Guy Berger Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 (edited) I thought this would be a fun thing to do. Dig through the archives for 2006 and find the funniest (intentionally or unintentionally) posts. Quote or link to them in this thread. Let's keep this good-natured. Guy Berger Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 (edited) April 21, 2006: good sirs and madammes of jazz discussion group: best of luck to all of you- thanks for the good jazz tips. probably wont have the net for a while so toodles from ConteporaryladySF. With Bird Flu comming i have to move out of my current, highly populated area, and to a more remote part of north america. I hope that all of you are in contact w/ your local depts of health and are preparing your respective plans for this international pandemic. It is up not to your government as much as it is the INDIVIDUAL to help curb the effects of the pandemic- so please educate your children about increased hygene awareness and use your internet resources to check up w/ your local areas plan, etc. i really thought i had all the jazz i need....until i went to Tower last week and saw a whole slew of jazz reissues ive never seen b4-- all these weird bird bootlegs, these jim hall/buddy collette cds, all this live art pepper stuff...i am out of the loop- and hope to get back in someday! Back to bird flu now, i was CONVINCED we were going to go into some martial law type of situation where all the interstates are shut down, but the local 3 star general in charge of the Nat'l Guard in my state assured me that at the most they'll have checkpoints at the state borders to check if you are exhibiting symptoms, but it is your constitutional right to travel freely between the states and the only one who can take that away is the president, but hes not going to do that...even durring quarrentine. Even though when bird flu comes i will have many jazz options while im waiting this thing out, i will listen primarily to Tatum and Hawkins. blue note is great and all, but really, when it really comes down to it-- all u really need in jazz is Tatum and Coleman Hawkins. im sorry, but that is it. i want you to know that. oh, i dont wanna burst your bubble- but im gonna burst it anyway.....my names not Nancy- its been me ARIC all along!! ha ha... Long live Hank- down with Wynton- beach boys 4 ever. dont catch bird flu. Edited January 17, 2007 by Guy Quote

GA Russell Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 I remember Sangrey's comment that The Four Freshmen are in hell. I think he's dead wrong in his assessment of their music, but I had to laugh at the comment. Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 I think my vote goes to Clem's post/poem Clark Terry fucked my mother And lots of other words to that effect. But I can't remember what thread it was in. MG Quote

Brownian Motion Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...st&p=591352 I'm fond of this post by the oversexed Mr. Twizzle. Randy Twizzle post Dec 13 2006, 09:07 PM Post #18 Veteran Groover **** Group: Members Posts: 360 Joined: 24-October 04 Member No.: 1000 Quite frankly I don't understand the derision directed at those who believe that we choose our sexual orientation. I remember quite clearly in the late 60s when I was in the 6th grade at Gatner Ave School in East Paterson, NJ , we had an assembly where health professionals addressed us on the choices we could make. We then had to sign up for the one that appealed to us and then have our parents sign a permission slip. I remember my father being quite relieved at my choice, but I sensed my mother's disappointment that I would never share her love for Judy Garland. Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 19, 2007 Author Report Posted January 19, 2007 Randy's had a few good ones: Though it doesn't have an official spokesperson, the "Girls Gone Wild" infomercials are clearly some of the most disgusting and despicable infomercials currently running. Even worse are the videos themselves. They represent the worst aspects of our hedonistic and exhibitionist culture. Everytime I view one of them I come away depressed about the future of our civilization; and the lighting is really bad. Quote
