He feigned innocence. Geez! Quote
brownie Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Can anybody enlighten me on what's in the Bethlehem Tatum Trio rehearsals discs? Never saw these... Quote

Michael Fitzgerald Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Appears both of these are hoaxes. The Laubich discography of Tatum lists nothing issued on Bethlehem, and in fact, Bethlehem BCP 1031 is by the Australian Jazz Quartet, yes? Mike Quote
brownie Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 An Australian joke, then Thanks, Mike! Quote
l p Posted August 20, 2005 Author Report Posted August 20, 2005 those entries are from allmusic, as are the ones below: On the Air (Aircheck) ("some tracks are on storyville volumes") 'fine art and dandy' drive archive label New York to Los Angeles: 1939-1945 [live] musidisc can i eliminate any of these. Michael Fitzgerald Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 As you seem to be serious about obtaining every single item of Tatum, I suggest you purchase a copy of the Arnold Laubich & Ray Spencer discography of Tatum (Art Tatum: A Guide to His Recorded Music, Scarecrow Press). It's 330 pages long. Probably available in decent university libraries, too. Mike Quote

brownie Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Oh! those Official vol. 1 and 2 'The Complete Trio Sessions with Tiny Grimes and Slam Stewart'. Got these when these CDs came out back in 1988! They include the January 5, 1944 (Brunswick), the May 1, 1944 (Comet) and the June 21, 1944 (Ash/Folkways) sessions. No Bethlehem connection in sight... Quote

Jim R Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 The latter were originally on "Asch" and Stinson, I believe. I had the Asch 12" 78 version at one time. Quote
