Bluerein
Hello all, just finished listening to this wonderful cd. If you're into small goup Basie this is the cd for you. Great solo's and arrangements. Overall nice smooth swing feel (what's new with Jo Jones). Great sound to match the spirit of the date. Juddo's to Jerry of Mighty Quinn to get this on cd. Recommended!!!!!
king ubu
Here's an AAJ review: http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=23958 I wonder, what OJC was this on, or how was it called? I only know of "Basie Reunion", "On the Sunny Side of the Street" and "For Basie", and it's none of them: http://concordmusicgroup.com/artists/album/index.php?id=3998
Bluerein
It wasn't on any OJC cd. It's a United Artists session so owned by EMI (not Fantasy or Concord). Edited May 25, 2007 by Bluerein
king ubu
Oh, I see - makes sense, as EMI-owned material has been what Mighty Quinn reissued so far... seems that chap over on AAJ didn't do his homework!
