Had a nice visit from and dinner with my wife’s niece and her family from my old stomping grounds, Austin. Another warmer morning, still, quiet, with a hungry dachshund and some great swinging music. “Classic Vanguard Small Group Swing Sessions” Mosaic Records 7 cd set, disc V Fantastic music! A session led by Jo Jones, and one led by Jimmy Rushing.

A little late, but I finally got around to watching this doc. Much more interesting than I expected. And some great 'talking heads' (not the band) appearances by fairly obscure artists. I learned a lot about the development of the Free Jazz scene, too. I contributed to the Kickstarter campaign they ran several years ago and had forgotten that they promised a screen credit if you contributed at a certain level ($50 maybe?). I was actually there! 😎
