  3. I just want them to listen to at home. I would be happy to buy an official release, but it does not look like that is ever going to happen. Still not clear if the Master Tape still exists and who would have it.
  4. If the you have a chance, give him greetings from me.
  5. Do you recall the episode Laurindo Almeida worked on?
  6. He came kind of near me (Richmond Hill, ONT) and I seriously considered it, but, not having a car, it is a huge drag to get there from where I am, and I was definitely worried about being stranded after the transit system stopped. I probably should have just figured it out (or maybe even Ubered it). I would have done so the following year(s), but I think the closest he has come lately is Albany. ☚ī¸ Anyway, I just saw Pat LaBarbera with Neil Swainson and Terry Clarke at the Rex. It was a sold out show. Which is terrific! This is their annual John Coltrane birthday celebration. This time around they did Giant Steps, Blue Trane and part of A Love Supreme, in addition to other material that Trane played. Very good show. I also managed to get Neil's latest CD from him, and he signed it for me. 👍
  7. Gravenites had mentioned the following for this 45 record: https://www.bluespower.com/a-ngbtb.htm "Jeff [Spitz] decided that it was time to go into the record business, and he arranged a session at CBS studios in Chicago for his new label, Out Of Sight Records, a name suggested by Pete Welding, a musicologist and record producer who was living in Hyde Park. We cut two of my songs, "Whole Lotta Soul" and "Drunken Boat." These are the musicians on my first recording session: Nick Gravenites, vocal and guitar; Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop, guitar; Paul Butterfield, harmonica; Erwin Helfer, harpsichord; Scotty Holt, Bass; Steve McCall, drums; Lester Bowie, trumpet; Julian Priester, trombone; Roscoe Mitchell, alto sax. We got two bizarre-sounding songs, had a thousand copies made; five hundred got lost in a warehouse somewhere, we gave away four hundred and sold a hundred". (Nick Gravenites in his book Bad Talkin' Bluesman)" ^^^Has it ever been reissued? I doubt. I am looking for it for years, in vain...
  8. Coincidentally (although, given the subject, are there really any coincidences?), a statue of Rod Serling was just unveiled in Binghamton, NY, his hometown: https://wrrv.com/rod-serling-binghamton/
  9. Upon reflection, it was Mike Bloomfield screaming at me.
  10. Guardians of last year's blues indeed.
  11. It's got Lester Bowie, Julian Priester, Erwin Helfer, and Scotty Holt as well!
  12. Lukas Foss Luman Harris Luella Parsons
  13. Back in the late '60s he screamed at me in public for "swallowing the bullshit stuff of the AACM". I have this early 45 The band includes Roscoe Mitchell, Elvin Bishop, Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield and Steve McCall
  14. Yesterday
  15. Oh well. R.I.P. He and Mike Bloomfiled did some important work.
  16. Yes, different, non RVG, non McMaster mastering--mastered by Kevin Reeves. I like the RVGS (I have kept US and Japanese versions) AND I like this 2 cd set which sounds very good as well.

Week 16 picks https://3downnation.com/2024/09/20/3downnation-cfl-picks-will-alouettes-or-redblacks-rebound-in-critical-east-division-clash/ ***** Hamilton - Toronto previews https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/toronto-argonauts-7-6-week-16-preview-vs-hamilton-tiger-cats-4-9-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/hamilton-tiger-cats-4-9-week-16-preview-vs-toronto-argonauts-7-6-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-games-today-september-20th-2024-saskatchewan-vs-calgary-hamilton-vs-toronto-tv-channels-odds/ ***** Sask - Calgary previews 0-6-1 vs. 0-4-1 https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/saskatchewan-roughriders-5-7-week-16-preview-vs-calgary-stampeders-4-8-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/calgary-stampeders-4-8-week-16-preview-vs-saskatchewan-roughriders-5-7-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://pifflespodcast.com/blog/game-day-somethings-gotta-give-as-riders-and-stamps-both-look-to-shake-off-winless-skids/ ***** Montreal - Ottawa preview https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/montreal-alouettes-10-2-1-week-15-preview-vs-ottawa-red-blacks-8-4-1-keys-to-the-game-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ ***** GA Russell's Week 16 picks Toronto over Hamilton (The Argos have been inconsistent all year, but I have a hunch they will do well at home. However, the Ticats are improving, and the Argos will need to play well.) Calgary over Sask (I like the Riders, who have been losing close games since July 19. But the Stamps perform much better at home [they are winless on the road]. The Riders have won only 2 of 7 road games. CFL games between two teams on losing streaks are often terrific!) Montreal over Ottawa (The Redblacks are undefeated at home, but they have injury problems this week.) Winnipeg over Edmonton (I'll be rooting for the Elks, but the Bombers seemed to have solidified more. However, the Bomber QB situation is dangerous with Collaros often injured, and his only back-up Streveler out for the year. Ford will start for Edmonton. His twin will start at DB for Winnipeg, so that might be interesting.) ***** This thread's view count today is 406,600; which is an increase of 900 in the past 7 days.
  18. Thanks. The 4 Wizard tracks (Milt Jackson, not Todd Rundgren) sound like 78s to my ears, but many of the tracks on the remastered Genius CDs sound like proto-hi-fi. I will do a more thorough comparison though. Does the set that you reference have different mastering? (I realize that "remastering" can including everything from making entirely fresh transfers to tweaking the treble from the previous remaster.)
  19. Well, there was some copying and pasting going on, so I don't think that makes me an authority. But, I do have the 4-CD set of TZ music (original recordings), along with the 2-CD set of Herrmann's scores (re-recordings), so yes, I have immersed myself in this music, as I have with the show. I agree that TZ had some of the best music ever composed for television, and it was my introduction to several of these composers.
