Ted Gioia’s West Coast Jazz, Modern Jazz in California 1945-1960 (U of C Press, 1992). Just stumbled a decent used copy over the weekend down in Richmond. Only a dozen pages in, and quite enjoying it! Definitely an area of jazz I’m a bit deficient in, beyond the scads of stuff I’ve absorbed reading posts around here for the last 20+ years.

Bump for a great box set. Offered for sale is a like new copy of the recent Mosaic Sonny Clark box set. This is currently out of stock at the Mosaic website but Mosaic does note that they expect it to be repressed later in 2025. I am offering this for $25 less than the median discogs price (see discogs link below) and at about the price I paid for it myself last year directly from Mosaic. This is a great box set, with excellent sound quality. The only reason I am selling it is because I now have most of this music on vinyl and need to clear some space in my music room.
