She began singing professionally in 1983, but soon moved to Aruba where for 2 years she performed in a nightly Jazz show.   Later she continued her music career in Miami where she also became a leading voice in the environmental movement, with her musical message as a composer often had ecological undertones.   Rivas recorded 11 albums as soloist and was nominated for a Latin grammy in 2018   * Maria  provided the lyrics for the  Spanish & Portuguese versions of this song.   The English version was recorded in Nashville with vocals by Molly Rocklind.         Many singers have wonderful voices, as does Ms. Rivas.
