    • I like the music, so more music from that night is good enough for me, especially when it has Tina Brooks on it. I just don't like the fact that they are advertising this as complete when it is clearly not complete. When they released the complete Lee Morgan performance at the Lighthouse, it was actually all of the music recorded those nights, so they do know what "complete" means.   As for why I don't want to try and contact anyone at Blue Note, well, my latest attempts to contact them have not gone anywhere, so I don't feel like trying anymore. I was honest when I told you to give it a try. Maybe it's just me that they don't respond to?
    • Yes and yes! A less involved group of players might suffer groove fatigue by the time it's over, but these folks are locked in all the way!
    • Yeah this was the only Japanese Strata CD reissue that I have that seems to be a needle drop, and not a good one either, there have been two subsequent versions on Solid Records, anyone know if they are any improvement?
    • All 14 tracks will be issued on April 11, 2025 in Japan on *ONE* SHM-SACD (not hybrid, $32).     "[Machine Translation] At the Five Spot Cafe" was recorded by Kenny Burrell with Art Blakey and Tina Brooks at the legendary Five Spot Cafe in New York City on August 25, 1959, and six previously unreleased tracks recorded on the same day have been added to this complete disc. Kenny Burrell made his first live recording as a leader at New York's legendary jazz club, The Five Spot Cafe, on August 25, 1959. The band he assembled for this show, already highly acclaimed for his Blue Note albums at the time, consisted of Art Blakey (ds), Tina Brooks (ts), Bobby Timmons (p), Roland Hanna (p), and Ben Tucker (b), the best lineup of the time. The performance was soulful and passionate, and is still regarded as one of the greatest hard bop albums of all time. The remastering was done by Kevin Gray, who has worked on the Tone Poet series. The cutting/remastering was done from the original master tapes, and the natural and warm sound, which has been highly acclaimed on previous reissues, provides an experience as if you are listening to the analog tapes as they were. The booklet includes never-before-seen photos by Francis Wolfe, an insightful essay by Sid Schwartz, and an interview with Kenny Burrell himself looking back on those days with Blue Note president Don Was. Includes translated booklet. This is a Japan-exclusive project. [Tina Brooks (ts), Kenny Burrell (g), Bobby Timmons (p), Roland Hanna (p on Disc 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10), Ben Tucker (b), Art Blakey (ds) Recorded live at Five Spot Cafe, New York, August 25, 1959. This product will be on sale on Friday, so you will receive it on or after the day of release."
